Linux Foundation Europe, the nonprofit championing global open source innovation, today announced the launch of the NeoNephos Foundation. This initiative is focused on fostering collaboration and driving innovation in open cloud infrastructure, digital sovereignty, and next-generation cloud-native technologies across Europe.
NeoNephos, a key open-source initiative from the IPCEI-CIS EU investment, addresses the rising need for secure, scalable, and transparent cloud solutions to support Europe’s digital sovereignty. By collaborating with top organizations, tech providers, and academic institutions, the initiative aims to develop and promote open-source solutions that empower European businesses and public sector entities.
“Linux Foundation Europe is excited to back the launch of NeoNephos, marking a major advancement in Europe’s cloud sovereignty efforts through open-source solutions,” said Gabriele Columbro, General Manager of Linux Foundation Europe. “By cultivating an openly governed collaborative ecosystem, we aim to accelerate innovation by utilizing open-source cloud-native technologies like Kubernetes, Sylva, and LF Networking projects. This initiative will leverage existing Linux Foundation global projects while ensuring compliance with crucial regulatory and data protection standards for European stakeholders.”
