Franchise partnership kicks off with the first store set to open in São Paulo by late April.

São Paulo storeKrispy Kreme, Inc. (NASDAQ: DNUT) has officially announced its entry into Brazil, marking a major milestone in the company’s global expansion journey. The first store is set to open in late April in São Paulo’s vibrant Avenida Juscelino Kubitschek district, through a minority joint venture with Ipiranga’s AmPm—the country’s largest convenience store chain.

This market entry aligns with Krispy Kreme’s capital-light franchise strategy, aiming to deliver its iconic, freshly made doughnuts to Brazilian consumers.

“We’re excited to introduce Krispy Kreme’s famous doughnuts to Brazil as we continue growing into a bigger and better brand,” said Raphael Duvivier, President, International at Krispy Kreme. “Our partnership with AmPm plays a crucial role in our international franchise model, helping us scale efficiently while ensuring long-term, sustainable growth. With AmPm’s vast network, we’re well-positioned to reach more customers and deliver the premium quality and flavor Krispy Kreme is known for.”

As announced in February 2024, Krispy Kreme is entering the Brazilian market through a minority interest joint venture with AmPm. This strategic partnership will leverage AmPm’s expansive network of around 1,500 retail locations across Brazil, starting with the launch of the first Krispy Kreme shop in São Paulo. The new shop is expected to create approximately 100 direct jobs, with additional employment opportunities anticipated as the brand grows its presence in the country.

Krispy Kreme currently works with over 30 international franchise partners, a model that allows the company to scale efficiently and bring its signature doughnuts to fans across the globe.
