Walmart Canada to Host Inaugural Growth Summit for Canadian Suppliers
Walmart Canada has announced its first-ever Canada Growth Summit, set to take place on July 9 at its Store Support Centre in Mississauga, Ontario. This in-person event will give Canadian entrepreneurs and suppliers from across the country a unique opportunity to pitch their products directly to Walmart Canada’s merchant team, with the chance to be listed in stores and online.
Modelled after successful events in the U.S., Mexico, India, Chile, and Africa, the Canada Growth Summit aims to uncover new local talent and expand the retailer’s assortment of Canadian-made goods. The initiative is part of Walmart Canada’s broader commitment to supporting Canadian businesses and fostering economic growth.
“Since 1994, Walmart Canada has proudly partnered with Canadian suppliers, purchasing billions in locally made products,” said Venessa Yates, President and CEO of Walmart Canada. “Our first Growth Summit reinforces our deep commitment to working with Canadian businesses and builds on our recent $6.5 billion investment in the country.”
Sam Wankowski, Chief Merchandising Officer, added: “Being listed at Walmart can be a game-changer for businesses. The Summit gives suppliers a direct platform to scale their operations and reach more customers with high-quality Canadian products at everyday low prices.”
Suppliers selected to attend will have the chance to:
- Pitch their products to Walmart Canada merchants
- Participate in keynote sessions hosted by Walmart Canada leaders
- Join educational and networking events
- Receive guidance on listing products through Walmart Canada’s expanding online Marketplace
Diane J. Brisebois, President and CEO of the Retail Council of Canada, praised the initiative: “Walmart’s first Canada Growth Summit is a testament to their ongoing support of local businesses from coast-to-coast and their commitment to delivering the products Canadians want.”
Applications to participate close on May 9, with selected suppliers invited to present at the July event.
Walmart Canada operates over 400 stores nationwide and serves 1.5 million customers daily.
